The image above illustrates the type of bracelet we will be creating in this class. You will learn how to heat texture sheet metal, how to fuse sheet metal, and how to keum boo. You will also learn how to use wire rivets and bolts to connect sheet metal. You will be exploring your own creative expression of these techniques rather than making a specific project. In addition to learning to make the components, we will be working with a torch, and an ultralite kiln to apply gold to sheet metal.

Pre-requisites: Basic wire skills, sawing, filing, and drilling experience.

What to bring to class:

(Note: We will have the following items for sale during class --- 20 gauge sheet metal, wire, min-bolts, beads, and some charms).

20 gauge sterling silver sheet metal – 1-1.5 inch pieces      
Other gauges of sterling silver pieces(any gauge is fine) to fuse onto the 20 gauge
Sharp smallish scissors to cut gold foil     
Beads
Charms or other found objects
Mini-bolts
jump rings (use your judgment on size)
16 and 14 gauge wire in the metal of your choice
24 k gold foil, .005 thickness (available from Art Clay) if you want to do Keum Boo
Note book to take notes
Copy of Seller's permit if you want to avoid paying taxes

Please note: Copper cannot be used to fuse - you will need to use sterling silver.

PLEASE WEAR CLOSE TOED SHOES TO CLASS

You will not need to bring tools to class. I am requesting that you not bring tool cases or large containers with you so the floor space is clear.
