Cuffs, Corrugation And Cold Connections - Class Description

Examples of the unique jewelry you can make with these skills.

In this class we will make cuffs featuring corrugated metal and cold connections. The corrugators we will be using have 5 different rollers, thus you can achieve a variety of designs. We will be connecting corrugated metal to 20 gauge sheet metal with a mere 4 bolts. No soldering needed, but we will use a torch to anneal!

You will certainly be able to finish at least one cuff if not more. The corrugator is pretty expensive and I realize not everyone will want to make an investment in this tool for their own use. However, you will likely have numerous samples of corrugated metal to use in your designs throughout the year.

Pre-requisite: Knowledge of basic fabrication skills.

Please bring to class (these items also for sale prior and during class)

  • 20 gauge sheet metal for cuff foundation (see below)***
  • 30 gauge sterling silver, copper or brass sheet metal for corrugation
  • Brass or silver mini bolts
  • Note book to take notes
  • 2 pieces of card stock paper
  • Copy of Seller's permit if you want to avoid paying taxes on supplies

*** The shear we have in class will cut up to 6” widths of sheet metal. Thus, I recommend you saw and file several cuff foundations prior to class unless a 6 inch piece of sheet metal will fit your wrist. 1.25 – 1.75” wide works well for this style cuff. You can make a template from card stock to estimate the needed length and width. If you need over 6 inches and you want to use sterling silver, you can order your cuffs 12” x needed width from Rio Grande. The piece of metal can then be trimmed in class. When in doubt, make your cuff a little longer than needed. It can be trimmed once it is formed.

PLEASE WEAR CLOSE TOED SHOES TO CLASS. PLEASE BRING A HEAD BAND IF YOU HAVE LONG HAIR.

You will not need to bring tools and large containers to class. I am requesting that you not bring tool cases with you so the floor space is clear.
