This one day class will focus on using cold connections to join metals together and to embellish your metal components.
You will learn how to make:
- Basic wire rivets and variations
- Basic tube rivets
- Screws and bolts
- Staples
The following techniques will also be incorporated into the class:
- How to rivet on a curved surface
- The use of riveting blocks and other useful riveting tools
- Developing a sequencing plan
- Using measuring strategies to achieve accurate placement
The above images are examples of jewelry I made using cold connections. The focus on the class will be to learn the connections listed above rather than to make a piece of jewelry. Of course you are welcome to make jewelry if that works for you.
Pre-requisites: None |
| |
What to bring to class:
-
1 foot 16 G dead soft, round wire (copper or sterling silver)
- 1 piece of silver, copper or brass tubing for tube rivets (for sale in class)
- 20, or 22, or 24 gauge copper sheet metal (for sale in class)
- Mini bolts (for sale in class)
- Note book to take notes, ink pen and ultra fine permanent pen (Sharpie)
- Copy of Seller's permit (optional)
Here is a link to common cold connection supplies I have on my site if you prefer ordering before class.
You will not need to bring tools and large containers to
class. I am requesting that you not bring tool cases with
you so the floor space is clear. Your work station will have all the tools you need for the class. |
