Wood Dapping Block and Punches Coming
Soon |
|
|
|
When these items became available I jumped
on them. They are an affordable choice that will add a lot of
interest to your metal work. The 8.5" x 6" hardwood
dapping block will allow you to curve some of those larger disks
you use, or to make more shallow curves in smaller disks. There
are 7 depressions ranging from 3/4" to 2 1/4" in diameter.
They are all 1/2" deep. The 3"x3" steel block
is affixed and flush with the surface. Because it would not be
good to have the wood exposed to oil, the block comes non-oiled.
This means that you may see some traces of rust on the bench
block easily removed with sandpaper. The 4 hardwood punches
fit 4 of the depressions very well, and 3 are a looser fit. This
set is worth its weight in gold (how about copper?) especially
when you compare prices with other wood and steel dapping sets.
Please email Christine at: christine@jatayu.com
if you would like to be notified when these arrive. |

A Few of My Favorite Things: |

Silicone Polishing Wheels If you want to rid your metal of those little
dings and divots using a silicone polishing wheel is an easy
effective way to do it. The grit varies from coarse to ultra-fine
(see TPO-0619,
TPO-0620,
TPO-0621,
TPO-0622,
TPO-0632).
If the marks are deep, start with a coarse wheel and finish with
a fine or ultra-fine wheel. Besides the polishing wheel and the
attachment mandrel, you will need a flex
shaft or a Dremel to accomplish this. Dont forget
to wear safety
glasses and a particulate
mask.
Color Tool If
you are trying to put great colors together you might try this
handy and informative tool. It is easy to match the focal color
you are working with (a color wheel has many fewer selections)
and on the back of each page you will find color various combinations
that will work beautifully. I like being able to select the recommended
cards to see what it might look like before I dig into my beads.
Many of us have some basic information about color combining
(including me), but when it comes to putting unique colors together,
I need a tool like this. |
