I do not remember
a time when I was not fascinated with glass. my first piece of
lampwork was a ten cent dog that I bought at the San Diego Zoo
souvenir shop. I still have it and other pieces that I have collected
over the decades. Years later as an art major in college I worked
in many different mediums. The hot glass shop had a huge pull
on me even then.
In 1997 I was fortunate to discover the world of handmade
glass beads. They have held me in their enchantment since then.
These small objects incorporate the elements of design that I
love. They have color, line, form, dimension, light and a tactile
quality that makes them irresistible to many. In the past ten
years my desire to work at the torch as grown with each new technique
I learn. I now share my wonderful studio with my daughter Brooke,
the next generation of glass artist.
I thank the generous teachers with whom I have taken classes
and the California bead community for keeping me growing as an
artist. I am grateful to Connie Fox for introducing me and other
bead makers to a style of jewelry that can incorporate our beads.
I think she makes metal magic. I am honored to have her include
my beads. |
